Harry Potter Night @ Catcher in the Rye Bar
Cather in the Rye (10550 Riverside Dr, Toluca Lake, CA 91602) is an adorable Library themed bar in Toluca Lake. They had a Harry Potter themed night for the opening of Harry Potter World at Universal City.
I always wanted to Harry Potter cosplay so I went a little crazy! 🙂 I sewed the yellow/red sweater detailing, and printed the Gryffindor patches on Printable fabric. Wand and glasses were an easy Amazon buy.
2nd Annual Planet of the Apes Day
I went to the 2nd Annual Planet of the Apes Day at Idle Hour in NoHo (4824 Vineland Ave). Can you believe they didn’t plan a themed drink! I found Monkey Shoulder at the bar. Thank god!
Back to the Future: Felt Skirt
I went to an awesome Enchantment under the Sea Dance hosted by April O’Neil for the Michael J Fox Foundation.
I’ve been working hard on my felt patterning, so I figured a themed poodle-skirt-style felt dress. I watched the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance scene and took note of all dance decorations. Color, shape, etc. I am proud to say all colors, no matter how strange or ill matching, are true to the movie. So basically, my skirt itself is an Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. Â I made an inspiration Pinterest board here.
Specifics:
- For the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance sign I used printable fabric. And recreated the sign in Photoshop.
- The “leash” rope is a simple green braided rope.I cut off small pieces for the small vines coming off the main one.
- Felt Detailing:
- Red and Grey Vines with Pink Gems
- Shells
- Mermaid
- Fish
- Seahorse
- Dolphin
- Octopus
Here’s some dance stills I used for color matching.

Back to the Future: Cosplay
Marty McFly is the best cosplay ever. Even though its like 4 layers. Kinda weird for Autumn in SoCal, huh?
But! I wore it anyway!
And my sexy boyfriend wore it too!
Carrie: PJ Soles Hat Cosplay
I loved PJ Soles in Carrie but I loved her hat even more! Its so inconic I had to recreate it! This one took a bit of work, I had to get enough screen caps to get all the patches up close then I had to find them.
Here’s some screen caps to start with:
To get specific, there is definitely a rainbow heart. Upper left is a bird or butterfly of some kind, upper right your guess is as good as mine. Seems to be a cloud patch on the left too. I purchased mine online or at Joann’s Etc. They weren’t to hard to find.
Fight Club: Cosplay
Marla. That little scratch on the roof of your mouth that would heal if only you could stop tonguing it.
Apocalypse Now: Cosplay
Apocalypse Now was a great break from the normal fare. I got to bust out my fatigues, aaaand my cartridge pipe I bought in Slab City.
My parents dog tags! I matched them with a cz peace sign a few years ago.
